Pakistani teams have also won prestigious international tournaments like Scottish open championship, Swedish international tournament and even Korea badminton exhibition tournament where they beat Korean national team which was rated as one of top 10 teams in the world. Pakistani badminton players have now started participating in various international tournaments. Pakistani national team has also started winning medals which includes a gold medal in Commonwealth games for women's doubles category. The great achievement of the year was winning the Asian games 2010 badminton men's team event after Pakistan had won a bronze medal at Manchester 2002 Commonwealth games and a silver medal at Melbourne 2006 common wealth games. In 2009 Pakistan also defeated South Korea in the final of Korea badminton championship 2009. In 1992 Pakistani Badminton player Rashid Mehmood won bronze medal in Individual men's singles event and later became champion in mixed doubles event with his fellow countrywoman Maria Toorpakay Wazir. In 2014 Pakistan has won the bronze medal at the Asian Games 2014 and this victory was made possible after a long and tough struggle by all members of the team.The country is one of the most formidable fielding teams in international badminton, and has managed to pull off some notable victories. Notably, they won both men's and women's team gold medals at the 2004 Asian Badminton Championships. The 2004 Asian Badminton Championships was also the first major international event that Pakistani teams had won since 1988. At this tournament, Imran Ali led a team that included Mohammed Mustafa, Rashid Mehmood, Pervez Ahmed and Parvia Islam to victory against India 16-13 in a closely contested final match. This win, however, would not be reproduced at future world championships. Other than that, the Pakistani teams have also had some success in the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup. The country has managed to qualify for all but one of the last 16 Thomas Cup tournaments since 1954, despite not having home-court advantage for most of these. Pakistan last hosted a Thomas Cup tie in 1975. In this event, Pakistan were drawn in a tough group against Indonesia and Australia. They managed to win 3 matches but ultimately lost 4 to finish third in their pool and did not advance to the second round. They have had more success in the Uber Cup, having won the event four times – Pakistan's first victory came in 2004 – and finished as runners-up twice.
